UK Building Compliance completed Validation Testing for Acoustic Design, Ventilation Testing for MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) and Sound Insulation Testing for this Block of Flats.
The Validation Testing was conducted to validate that the Acoustic Design standards which were set had been met upon the completion of the project.
On this particular project an Environmental Noise Survey was commissioned prior to commencement on site (part of the planning departments planning conditions).
The purpose of this Noise Survey was to establish the background noise levels of the site and determine appropriate specifications to ensure the maximum internal noise levels within the residential dwellings would not exceed the limits as outlined in the relevant British Standards.
Acoustic glazing and ventilation was incorporated into the design on this development to prevent the maximum internal noise levels exceeding the regulation standards. UKBC completed short term internal noise monitoring to validate that the specifications used met with the minimum requirements.
MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) was installed on this project. An MVHR system cuts out almost all of the ventilation heat losses, which make up to 30% of the heating demand of a dwelling. The Ventilation Testing ensures the system is correctly balanced, to make sure the correct amount of air is either being extracted from or supplied to every room in the house.
