- UK Building Compliance were appointed to undertake some bespoke SAP 10 Consultancy in order to determine the best ways to achieve compliance for the upcoming uplift to Part L Standards

THE PROCESS
- To achieve compliance, our assessors devised a robust methodology in order to predict the performance of various products under numerous scenarios
- SAP 10 Beta was used to carry out SAP Calculations on a typical 2-bedroom, 3-bedroom & 4-bedroom dwelling
- U-Values were set at upcoming Part L notional standards for all dwellings to ensure consistency
- The calculations provided figures for each of the compliance metrics – Dwelling Emission Rating (DER), Dwelling Fabric Energy Efficiency (DFEE) & the newly introduced Dwelling Primary Energy Rating (DPER)
- The following scenarios were ran:
- 1) Gas Central Heating, Hot Water and Solar PV
- 2) Infrared Room Heaters and Air Source Heat Pump Hot Water Cylinder
- 3) Infrared Room Heaters, Electric Immersion Hot Water and Solar PV
- 4) Gas Central Heating and Air Source Heat Pump Hot Water Cylinder
- 5) Infrared Room Heaters, Air Source Heat Pump Hot Water Cylinder and Solar PV

- SAP 10 shows a clear shift to electricity becoming more favourable as a fuel source
- However, renewable technologies such as Heat Pumps and Solar PV will need to play a role in all developments from June 2022, along with an increase in fabric performance – such as wider wall cavities
